Practical skills training "Technique of performing surgical interventions in pediatric surgery"

Duration: 3 days.

Venue:  "OKHMATDYT" (Kyiv, V. Chornovola str., 28/1), Training Center and Department of Experimental Surgery of the National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology. O.O. Shalimov; Kyiv, street Heroes of Sevastopol, 30.

Today mini invasive technologies in pediatric surgery dominate in most medical centers. In general surgery laparoscopic intrusion has been established as golden standard of treatment for a number of pathologies and this is surely connected with modern training programs addressing young professionals.

To provide surgeons with appropriate anatomy models remain a problem for such programs to be effective.

During the workshop arranged by the Center of Surgical Innovation the participating surgeons will be given the unique opportunity to practise the stages of surgical interventions on close to real conditions anatomy models, namely rabbits of chinchilla species.  The instruments to be used for developing laparoscopy skills comply with the requirements of the leading pediatric centers, that is, they are not just adapted standard laparoscopic instruments.

Among the aspects of mini invasive surgery to be examined during the seminar are ergonomics and operating place making, operational area setting, suturing and knotting, laparoscopic hernioraphy, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, antireflux surgery and some other gastrointestinal procedures.

The seminar involves video and discussion sessions, subject lectures, performing basic operations on the abdominal organs with the use of training boxes and simulators.

Teachers: Leading specialists of the Department of Pediatric Surgery Bogomolets and the National Children's Specialized Hospital "OHMATDIT".

Curator of the course: PRITULA VASYL , Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Pediatric Surgery, National Medical University. Bogomolets (Kyiv), chief freelance pediatric surgeon at the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Vice-President of the All-Ukrainian Association of Pediatric Surgeons, member of the European Association of Pediatric Surgeons.

The course is meant for motivated surgeons to become an important step for the introduction of minimally invasive surgery in their daily practice.

In case of available vacancies the seminar can be attended by those interns who are being trained in pediatric surgery.

At the end of the course, a Certificate of the Center for Surgical Innovation, which includes points according to the order of the MPH № 446 dated 22.02.2019
