The week course on thematic improvement for surgeons "Practical skills of laparoscopic surgery" was held at the Center of Surgical Innovations on 20-24 March 2017, tutor of the course – Ph.D. Oleksandr Kalashnykov.
An intense schedule of the course included daily exercises on the simulators, visiting the ORs of the National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology of O.O.Shalimov, extensive theoretical course and the "vet lab" on a laboratory animal (a pig).
Leading experts of the National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology of O.O.Shalimov and CSI lecturers held a series of lectures on different topics: “The basics of laparoscopic technique”, “Prevention of iatrogenic injuries of bileduct and vessels within open and laparoscopic cholecystectomy”, “Laparoscopic appendectomy”, “Laparoscopic treatment of hernias of the frontal abdominal paries”, “Laparoscopic treatment of hernias of esophageal hiatus”, “Laparoscopic treatment of obesity and metabolic disorders”.
The students improved their professional skills while working on the laparoscopic simulators practicing the skills of dissection, ligation, suturing and knots formation.
The students had the opportunity to apply laparoscopic techniques and methodologies, to test the high-frequency, plasma and ultrasound equipment of the leading manufacturers of surgical equipment in the ORs during the "vet lab".
The students had also successfully implemented a number of laparoscopic surgeries such as cholecystectomy, suture closure of perforated peptic ulcer, nephrectomy, splenectomy, fundoplication, hernioplasty, adnexectomy, appendectomy, enteroenteroanastomosis under the guidance of the course tutor Oleksandr Kalashnykov.
The surgeons have received the certificates of the CSI after completion of the course.
