Three-day practical seminar for interns and senior students “Basic skills of laparoscopic surgery" was held at the Center of Surgical Innovations on 11-13 January 2017.

The practical seminar was attended by interns and students from Kyiv, Lviv and Dnieper.
Theoretical course program included the following topics: "Basics of laparoscopic techniques", "Types of endoscopy - rigid, flexible, combined. Modern approach to endoscopic treatment. Prospects for further development.", "Tips and tricks of modern laparoscopic surgery.”, "Laparoscopic surgery under emergency conditions. Acute abdomen. Surgery or gynaecology. Multidisciplinary approach. (Acute appendicitis, perforated ulcer, ovarian apoplexy, ectopic pregnancy).
Situational tasks on trocar position when performing basic surgical interventions.
Video course "Types of surgical energy, their impact on biological tissue, hemostasis in laparoscopic surgery" and "Types of laparoscopic sutures".
The analysis of basic laparoscopic surgical interventions in abdominal surgery was conducted during the video-session, the methods of pneumoperitoneum formation were considered, the key mistakes and possible complications at various stages of laparoscopic surgery were analyzed.
The schedule of the course was very intense. A lot of attention was paid to practical issues and training on simulators with the improvement of skills of working with laparoscopic instruments and intracorporal knots formation.
The students had the opportunity to participate in a workshop on laparoscopic cholecystectomy under chronic and acute cholecystitis in the ORs of the National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology of O.O.Shalimov and assist leading experts in the field of minimal invasive surgery during the seminar.
The participants of the course practiced in the pneumoperitoneum formation, trocars positioning, camera navigation in abdominal cavity, manipulation of instruments, intracorporal knots formation and modelling the surgery under perforated peptic and duodenal ulcer, performed cholecystectomy, practiced in clipping gall ducts on the model, performed nephrectomy, marginal liver resection and practiced hemostasis under bleeding from various sources during VET LAB practice.
The participants have received the certificates of the Center of Surgical Innovation after the completion of the course.
