Seminar objectives: to consider the main principles of laparoscopy in herniology, to learn about the laparoscopic methods of removing inguinal and post-operative ventral hernias, to train the basic skills of laparoscopic surgery.

The program:


Analyzing the main stages of surgical intervention during video sessions and while assisting in the operating rooms

Practising laparoscopy on simulators, organic complexes and during VET LAB 

Theoretical part:

Inguinal and incisional ventral hernia. Definition. Indication. Types of operations

The history of laparoscopic herniology

The kinds of surgical energy used in laparoscopic herniology

The use of ballon dissectors for making a working place in the preperitoneal area

Polypropylene prosthetic devices and herniostaplers

Transabdominal preperitoneal plastique of the inguinal canals (TAPP): indication, technical aspects, lasting results, complications

Total extraperitoneal plastique of the inguinal canals (TEP):  indication, technical aspects, lasting results. complications

IPOM in incisional ventral hernia (Intraperitoneal Onlay Mesh): indication, technical aspects, lasting results, complications

Practice during vet lab:

Two side dissection of tissue with scissors and active surgical instruments

further improvement in performing intracorporal and extracorporal sutures

suturing with laparoscopic instruments using different methods

introducing mesh into the preperitoneal area through the port

fixation of the mesh implant with the herniostapler

stitching the peritoneum with the apparatus

Facilities and equipment: laparoscopic simulators, devices and equipment for laparoscopic surgery (laparoscopic units, high frequency, ultrasonic surgical devices), boards to practise laparoscopy, organic complexes, lab swines, in-patient operating rooms, broadcasts from the operating rooms, multi-media learning facilities, video library, library.

Methodology: module standards of education based on recommendations from the American and European Unions of surgeons.

The course graduates receive the SCI Certificates
