Center of Surgical Innovation is an interdisciplinary training project based at the National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology after A. Shalimov and supported by the Association of Surgeons of Ukraine.
The objectives of the project include providing material and technical conditions for surgeons in their further professional development, rendering organizational and methodological assistance to surgeons in their getting familiar with innovative technologies, practising surgical intervention by using latest technologies and models, mini invasive surgery inclusive, in the operating rooms of the Institute with the participation of the leading specialists from Ukraine and other countries.
The undeniable advantage of the project is its integration into the structures of the National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology which involve in-patient and research departments.
The partners of the project are major manufacturers of medical equipment, leading clinics and universities in Ukraine amd other countries.
The Center is provided with modern equipment to practise surgical skills on laparoscopic simulators and laboratory swines. The course program allows the surgeons, interns and senior students to learn and improve their surgical intervention skills, under the guidance of the leading experts from Ukraine and abroad, on simulators, in the vivarium and when assisting in the clinical operating rooms of the Institute.
The Center is fully equipped with high tech operating rooms which have conference link to watch surgical intervention. The on-line broadcast allows the experts to arrange discussions with the operating surgeons and colleagues, to ask them about surgical intervention technique as well as complication prevention.
The potential of telemedicine is based on the network visual communication and videoconferences connecting hospitals and educational centers around the world.
Participants of the project are practiсing surgeons, interns and 6th year students.
The Center is aimed at engaging the advanced experience in the world surgery to help improve the quality of surgical care in Ukraine.
