On July 18-22, 2016 the Center of Surgical Innovation held a week long professional development course “Practical skills of laparoscopic pelvic surgery”. The course instructor was Doctor Roman Zhykharskiy from the Kyiv City Center for Reproductive and Perinatal Medicine, a Bachelor of the European Society of gynecological endoscopists (ESGE).
The course was attended by a group of doctors from Vinnitskaya and Chernovitskaya region.
The theory of the course included the basic principles of laparoscopy, operating room equipment, basic laparoscopic surgery in gynecology, pnevmoperiotoneum formation, types of surgical energies and their effects on biological tissue, hemostasis in laparoscopy, types of laparoscopic surgery for the uterus pathology
At the session the doctors considered some patient cases, discussed treatment tactics and methods, analyzed video of surgical interventions.
In accordance with the course plan the greater part of the time was assigned to practising laparoscopy on the simulators, with the doctors exercising in laparoscopy as well as in training suturing and knotting.
During the Vet lab class the course participants had an opportunity to practise setting the Verres needle and making pneumoperitoneum, trocar placing and inserting optics and instruments, trained Intracorporal and extracorporal suture applying methods, and they also performed some ovary operations (salpingo ectomy, ovary drilling, ovary resection, ovariectomy) using different types of energies.
Upon completion of the course the doctors got their Certificates.
