On May 17-21, 2016 the Center of Surgical Innovation held a week long professional development course for urologists “Practical skills of laparoscopic surgery for urologists”. (The course instructor – Candidate of Medicine A. Stakhovskiy, Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Oncological Urology, National Institute of Cancer).
The course was attended by the doctors from different parts of Ukraine.
The theoretical part of the program included: basics of laparoscopic surgery, types of surgical energies, basics of laparoscopic urology, video-resources and complications in laparoscopic urology.
The doctors trained on the laparoscopic simulators following the European instructions for laparoscopy urology basic training.
A day of the course was assigned for visiting the National Institute of Cancer and assisting the course instructor during the operations performed.
During the Vet Lab training the doctors got a splendid opportunity to practise the basic laparoscopic techniques on pigs, to test high frequency, plasma and ultrasonic devices from the leading manufacturers of surgical equipment.
Under the guidance of the course instructor the surgeons successfully carried out a number of laparoscopic procedures among them: renal excretion, vessel detection, dissection and clipping, nephrectomy, intracorporal suturing and hemostasis techniques.
Upon completion of the course the doctors got their certificates.
